This is a pattern developed by Frank Norris, who passed away not long ago. It is fun to tie because you can be a little creative and blend your own dubbing and you can choose a nice looking feather for the wing.
Hook - 3X long streamer sizes 6 - 10
Thread - Black 6/0 or 8/0
Tail - natural guinea
Body - Dubbing - blue gray or light olive
Wing - Pheasant Rump - natural colour or dyed
Head - Black bead or dubbing
1. If using a bead, place it on hook.
2. Start thread and tie guinea fibre tail in at hook bend, about the same length as the hook shaft.
3. Dub to about 2 eye widths back from the hook eye.
4. Choose a pheasant rump wing feather with a lighter tip. Place in on top of the hook extending to just past the hook bend. Wrap with 1 or 2 wraps of thread and pull the feather back to get the length right and tent it a little.
5. Dub head up to bead if used or over entire head area. Tie off and whipfinish.
Attitude! Repeat after me . . . I love dubbing. I love dubbing
